BIOGRAPHY: Clara Katz

Clara served as an educational leader at I.S. 162 in the South Bronx for over three decades. In 1995, she was instrumental in restructuring I.S. 162, which was one of the lowest-achieving middle schools in New York City at the time. The school today is comprised of four small schools, all with a challenging academic program infused with technology. I.S. 162 has made tremendous progress since its restructuring, becoming a model middle school in one of New York City’s most impoverished neighborhoods. She has written, reviewed and implemented timely curricula for all subject areas and grade levels for the past 20 years, in addition to serving as the Middle School Coordinator for District 7 in the Bronx.

Clara has coordinated the CEI-PEA School Network for more than a decade and now serves as the Accountability/Achievement Coordinator for one of the PSO Networks.
